Happy middle of the year everyone. Here’s what’s been happening since last post.

Burnz’s final images! branding for his Twitch/Discord etc.
We opted for a more wacky and eye catching design over boring readability. Here are some of the iterations.

These are some tests veering more toward readability, but we both preferred the depth and 3D feeling of the final design.
Yonks ago, I was tasked with creating some imagery for a cause called “Banff Plainstones Christmas Cracker” a social media campaign to fund and keep up the Christmas lights in my hometown. I whipped up something quick and slapdash a number of years ago, and I always meant to go back and spruce it up. And what better time to draw Christmas imagery then in the middle of the year!

Readability & plenty of colour combos.
One of the odder commissions I’ve been tasked with, is to make a carton mascot for hallucinogenic gummies. A little out of my wheelhouse.

And yes. I drew shameless inspiration from Poochie.
3 flavours to pick from! Was fun rendering a cosmic goofy stoner bro.

The iterative design process.
I say commission tongue in cheek as I’m still awaiting payment. But I’m certain that will change by the next blog update.
Another illustrative effort of mine, has been making branding for our family’s yearly BBQ (Why yes, I do take it too seriously).

Channelling my inner Hank Hill.
Also did some homework on how to make custom burger + hotdog holders. The burger clamshells are way more hassle then theyre worth. Thankfully the hotdog holders are super easy to craft.

Trust me bro. The ink seeping off the packaging into the food will make it taste better.
Something of a in-joke but I still wanna post, is a custom made design for a friends stag-doo t-shirt.

Had these made into t-shirts. They were a big hit.
Another year means, another year dressing up for DEECON. And after splurging on the Robotnik outfit, how could I not.

And yes. That moustache is as itchy as it looks.
I certainly don’t have comparable 300 IQ of Dr Robotnik, as we lost our streak for the pub quiz. Oh well, 2 years in a row is still nothing to sniff at!
And it being another year also means. Another Kiltwalk! This year me & Adam are substantially ramping up our efforts and attempting to conquer 2 Kiltwalks instead of just 1.

At this rate, I’ll be doing 5 Kiltwalks in a year by the time I hit 40. But let’s not think about that.
Because it’s two Kiltwalks, it’s been divided into two different JustGiving pages. Eagle eyed gamers will notice the Street Fighter 2 motifs.
Here is the link to the Dundee one.
Any amount donated whatsoever is highly appreciated as the SCAA is deffo a worthy cause.
And in an attempt to drum up funds and reach the ambitious £1000 goal, I’ve set up donation incentives for the pages.

Expensive for a cartoon commission I’m aware. But be aware, I don’t receive a penny of it 😛
The lower tier reward is a personalised cartoon from yours truly. I’ve set up the price of entry quite high in order to entice people to donate a big higher then the average.

Edible rewards! Don’t worry, I happen to be a good baker. No food poisoning here.
So for the generous souls who donate £50, they can recieve a personalised drawing and 8 delivered cupcakes. And of course, the feel good factor of donating to a life saving charity 🙂
So what’s next. I know I say it every time but I’m itching for a legend of fail session. Making efforts to record a few levels in November. I have two commissions for my friend Burnz that I’ve been dragging my heels with. Still waiting for the Halloween 2023 meme video to come back from the editor (I’ll just rebrand it as Halloween 2024 by the time I get it).
Most of my energy as of late has been into training for the Kiltwalk (as you can see from the endless updates on the JustGiving pages) so arty stuff has taken an unfortunate backseat. Let’s hope I can get another blog post output this year!
